MCS-150 due dates by USDOT number
Your MCS-150 biennial update is due every 24 months by the last day of your filing month. The last digit of your USDOT number sets the month (1 is January, 0 is October). The next-to-last digit sets the years: odd digit, odd years; even digit, even years.
That schedule is in 49 CFR 390.19T(b). To skip the arithmetic, look up your USDOT number.

There are no filing months for November or December. Numbers ending in 0 file in October.

Right now: the Motus transition
FMCSA has temporarily suspended enforcement of biennial updates, and the inactivation of USDOT numbers for missing them, while carriers move to Motus. Carriers whose update was due on or after June 1, 2026 get extra time. The update is still required. (FMCSA notice, last updated September 10, 2026; checked September 30, 2026.)
The pause doesn't change your schedule. It gives extra time to carriers whose update came due during the move to Motus.
Questions
What if my USDOT number has only one digit?
There is no next-to-last digit, so it counts as 0, which is even. You file in even-numbered years.
Is the deadline the first or last day of the month?
The last day. The rule says you "must file by last day of" your month (49 CFR 390.19T(b)(2)).
Can I file before my month?
Motus lets you submit a biennial update when your information needs updating. Your scheduled deadline stays the same: the last day of your month every 24 months.
